The plastic mattress base can easily be lifted: a child could be trapped underneath and suffocate. There are protruding parts to which garments of children could get hanged, causing strangulation. In addition, the presence of long cords and strings may also cause strangulation. Also, the defective locking mechanism may cause the cot to fold inadvertently, causing injuries to the child and the gap between the side bars and the changing unit is too large, which may cause entrapment of fingers between the unit and the side of the cot.
