Welded parts of the inflator in each of the curtain shield air bags could have a minute crack. If the crack propagates over time, part of the inflator could separate causing compressed gas to escape. This would result in partial inflation of the curtain shield air bag, and, in limited circumstances, one or both sections of the inflator could enter the interior of the vehicle. If an occupant is present in the vehicle, this could lead to injuries.

In the event of deployment of the driver’s airbag, the internal pressure of the inflator may increase abnormally and, in extreme cases, cause the driver’s airbag inflator casing to rupture.
